FINDING HOME: An Imperfect Path to Faith and Family
by Jim Daly, president and CEO of Focus on the Family
Now available in bookstores nationwide
About the Author: As the youngest of five children born to alcoholic parents, Jim Daly survived a childhood characterized by heartbreak, abuse and abandonment.
As a five-year-old, Daly saw his world fall apart as his alcoholic father left the family. He went on to deal with the death of his mother at age 10 followed by the departure of his stepfather—who abandoned Daly and his siblings on the evening of their mother’s funeral. The remainder of Daly’s childhood was spent going from foster home to short stints with his siblings—often he was in neglectful or dangerous situations.
It is an unlikely background for the man who has become the leader of the world’s largest ministry dedicated to serving, strengthening and defending families worldwide. Daly’s journey from orphan to president and CEO of Focus on the Family is detailed in his new book, Finding Home: An Imperfect Path to Faith and Family. In it, Daly shares the true story of how he beat the odds and found faith and family.
Daly is a graduate of California State University, San Bernardino, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1984. He received his MBA in International Relations in 1997 from Regis University in Denver.
Daly has been married to his wife Jean, since 1986. They have two young sons, Trenton and Troy. The Daly family resides in Colorado Springs.
